Welcome to All Left Turns!
Hi I’m Charlotte Palermino.
I’m a recovering tech and beauty exec that started an award-winning beauty company in 2020. I also talk a lot about media, skincare and tech on the internet.
And, this is how I’ve felt for quite some time now…
All Left Turns is my attempt to make sense of the increasingly complicated beauty, tech and wellness industries on a platform that allows for more than a 10-60s dialogue.
Because as much as we crave simple answers, in the world we live in? Nothing is a straight path. It always ends up taking a left turn.
From the conflicts of interest that have allowed the beauty industry to thrive, to the scary clip in which tech companies are playing off of, and monetizing our emotions, All Left Turns will dive into how consumption, whether it’s physical, visual or verbal, impacts us.
The goal? Understand better so we can make more nuanced and conscious decisions.
I’m a nuance nerd. If you are too, hello friend.
How this Substack works:
Every week I’ll be publishing a weekly roundup breaking down headlines and social media posts that caught my attention (and emotions). This roundup will include my rants and raves on each subject.
For paid subscribers (y’all I love products but I’m done with the sponsored posts) there will be two monthly essays and a “Consumer Corner” roundup. The monthly essays will change in subject but here’s how I plan to tackle them.
I’m also hoping to have more meaningful conversations with commenters so please, ask questions, let me know your thoughts and prayers and what you’d like to see.
Lastly, I love brands, I love things (something I’m actively working on) but I’m not interested in turning this into anything sponsored and I will not be including affiliate links.
